Welcome to the Society Clubhouse: The Home of the Heather Doherty Benefit

On November 1st, we're taking over Society Clubhouse at 967 College Street for a full day of music, fundraising and people showing up for Heather.

When we started putting the Heather Doherty Benefit together, we knew pretty quickly that this wasn't going to be a couple of bands playing for a few hours. The list of musicians willing to help kept growing. Then came the merch, the raffle and silent auction plans, the vendors, the zine and all the other pieces that have somehow turned this into an actual full-day event.

We needed a place that could hold all of that.

Society Clubhouse is that place.

A Full Day on College Street

The benefit runs from 1 PM until 2 AM, with the afternoon portion open to all ages and the evening continuing as a 19+ show.

That gives us something we're particularly happy about: this doesn't have to be an event you can only attend if you're able to commit to an entire night out.

Come in the afternoon. Bring the family. Catch a band. Look through the merch. Stick around for a while. Leave and come back. Or settle in for the long haul and see how many hours of live music your ears can handle.

We're putting together a full day rather than a conventional three-band bill because so many musicians offered to be part of it. What started as a benefit show has become something closer to a very small neighbourhood music festival.

And that's exactly what we wanted.

Why Society Clubhouse?

A benefit like this works best when it doesn't feel separated from the neighbourhood around it.

Society Clubhouse is a woman-owned and operated space, which made it feel like an especially good home for an event built around people taking care of one another. Independent spaces matter, and we're very happy that this one is opening its doors to us for the day.

Heather spent years running Maggie's Farm on Roncesvalles, and a huge part of this event has grown out of the network of people, musicians, businesses, customers and friends she met during those years. There's something particularly fitting about bringing that community into another independently run Toronto space.

Society Clubhouse gives us room for all of it: a full day of live music, benefit merchandise, fundraising, friends dropping in and probably a certain amount of organized chaos.

For one Sunday in November, we're making it our clubhouse too.

More Than a Venue

One of the things we've learned while organizing this benefit is that an event doesn't happen because one person decides to make a poster and book some bands.

It happens because people say yes.

Musicians say yes.

Businesses donate things.

People share posts with their friends.

Someone offers a contact. Someone else offers equipment. Someone buys a sticker. Someone buys a shirt before it even exists yet.

And somebody has to give all of those people a place to meet.

On November 1st, that place is Society Clubhouse.

What We're Doing This For

The reason behind all of this remains very simple.

Heather lost her home in a devastating fire and was rescued from the second-storey with Harley, her puggle. She was uninsured and lost virtually everything.

The immediate crisis may have passed, but the expenses haven't.

Money raised through the benefit will help with Heather's immediate living costs and the continuing cleanup and recovery of her home. That includes the unglamorous things that don't necessarily make for dramatic fundraising photographs: rubble removal, mould remediation, repairs and the countless expenses involved in trying to move forward after losing a home.

That's why we're doing the show.

That's why we're making the shirts.

That's why we're printing the stickers.

And that's why we're spending an entire Sunday making a lot of noise on College Street.

See You November 1st

The Heather Doherty Benefit takes place Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Society Clubhouse, 967 College Street, Toronto.

Doors open at 1 PM, and we're going until 2 AM.

Expect a full day of bands, benefit merch, fundraising, good people and probably a little organized chaos.

Come for an hour. Come for the afternoon. Come for the night.

Just come.

We've got a clubhouse.
